The cafe is part of the practical learning experience in the Foods II class at Decorah High School as well as part of the Hospitality class that works in efforts of menu planning, promotion, serving and cost analysis. The manager of the restaurant and the instructor for the course, Ms. Laura Storlie, has been certified for the “Serv-Safe” program, through the National Restaurant Association. Students in the Foods II class are also part of the “Pro-Start” curriculum offered through the National Restaurant Association and, as such, can test to receive a certificate from that organization.
The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals has also visited the site
and provided its stamp of approval for restaurant operations.
