The Decorah High School Vocal Music Department will present a series of mid-winter choral concerts on Tuesday, March 2. The Ninth Grade Choir will perform at 6:15 p.m., Viking Chorus at 7:00 p.m., and Concert Choir at 8:00 p.m. The concerts will be performed for reduced, distanced, and masked audiences of family members of the performers. The concerts will also be live-streamed on the YouTube channel “Decorah TV” for anyone wishing to view them.

Ninth Grade Choir will be singing “Tres Cantos Nativos,” a piece based on melodies of the Kraó tribe of Brazil; “The Long Day Closes” by Greg Gilpin; and “Sing to the Lord a New Song” by Franz Joseph Haydn. Viking Chorus will sing a “My Very Own” by Susan LaBarr, “K’Ayal Ta’arog” by Nick Page, Haydn’s “Gloria” from Heiligmesse, and  “Waitin’ For the Light to Shine” from the musical Big River. Concert Choir will perform G. B. Martini’s “Domine ad adjuvandum me festina,” Felix Mendelssohn’s “For God Commanded Angels to Watch Over You,” “Flight Song” by Kim André Arnesen, and “Blogodop” by Haitian composer Sydney Guillaume.

Conductor for the evening is Jason Rausch, collaborative pianist is Mary Beth Bouska, and guest instrumentalists are Loren Hendrickson, Sarah Kowitz, Jennifer Larson, Anja Madsen, AJ Morrow, and Sarah Pedlar.
