Decorah Middle School orchestra students in 7th and 8th grade recently completed their annual solo/ensemble festival.  Each student selected, rehearsed, and performed a solo (one duet) for the event.  To accommodate the virtual arrangement of the festival, this year the students created videos of themselves playing rather than performing live. The videos were then shared with local judges Kayla Scholl and Jonathon Winter for review and constructive feedback.  

“Best of site” honors went to Leah Holland, cello and Gwenyth Thompson, violin.  Those earning “honorable mentions” were Lillian Olson, Anja Hanson, Elsa Johnson, Jaidyn Duvel on violin and Ezra Vorvik and Eli Sassaman on string bass.
