Nine Decorah FFA members traveled to West Union on Friday, September 17th for the state FFA dairy cattle evaluation and milk quality competitions.

In the contest of dairy cattle evaluation, Brody Courtney, Anders Lovstuen, Morgan Moen, and Addison Wemark placed fourth with a gold rating. These members evaluated five classes of dairy cattle, gave a set of oral reasons, and took a test on dairy cattle production and management. Lovstuen took first place in oral reasons and fourth place overall in the individual competition.

Kyleigh Batterson, Rachel Mikkelson, Chezny Ryant, and Sage Wedmann represented the Decorah FFA in the milk quality and products contest. The team came in ninth place and received a silver rating. These members evaluated a variety of cheese, milk, and milk product items in this competition. They also took a knowledge test and completed a milk pricing problem.

Melia Kruse represented the Decorah FFA in the dairy handling competition.

Rachel Mikkelson, Chezny Ryant, Sage Wedmann, and Kyleigh Batterson competed in the state FFA milk quality and dairy products evaluation contest and received 9th place.
