In the Spotlight
Steve Larson teaches computer science in the afternoons and supervises 3rd grade lunch daily at Carrie Lee Elementary. An accomplished educator who balances his afternoon role at Carrie Lee with morning classes at the middle school, Mr. Larson has become a cornerstone of our CLE community through his passion for learning and his genuine care for our students. In his computer science classes, Mr. Larson transforms abstract concepts into engaging, hands-on experiences. Through coding activities, Typing Club practice, and creative STEAM projects, he sparks curiosity and ignites the natural creativity within each learner. More than just teaching technical skills, Mr. Larson cultivates an inquiry mindset, encouraging students to ask questions, explore solutions, and discover that they are capable problem-solvers. His approach helps young learners develop the essential technology competencies they'll carry throughout their education and beyond. Ask any 3rd grader about lunch supervision, and they'll likely mention Mr. Larson's legendary stories. With his gift for storytelling and sense of humor, Steve has turned lunch into an entertaining guessing game: Is this tale actually true, or has our teacher pulled the wool over our eyes? Whether the stories are fact or fiction, the laughter is real, and so is the connection he builds with students. We wish Mr. Larson well as he retires at the end of the school year!
