Decorah High School’s drama department has produced memorable and award-winning musicals for decades, and because of the generosity of Red-Roxy Quilt Company of Decorah, the costume department received a welcomed upgrade, purchasing a new sewing machine at half price.  Kristen Underwood, Costumer and Co-Director of “Tarzan the Musical” stated, “Having a reliable sewing machine at the high school while we’re making costumes will be so welcome, especially during the fall musical! We have a student costume crew willing to do a lot of creative hand sewing, but I have had to rely on parent volunteers for the bigger projects or take them home myself. Now, students will get hands-on experience with a good machine, and even more of what you see on stage will have been created by them! I think that’s really exciting. We owe Red-Roxy a big round of applause for being so community-minded and donating half the cost of this new machine. What a gift.”

Jess Rediske, co-owner of Red-Roxy, shared this about the discount provided to the DHS drama department: “Being a small business owner in the community where our local support is so great, when we have the opportunity and are able to give back, it means so much. Especially in this capacity where hopefully students are able to sew and create, it’s all the more reason to do so.”
