On Saturday, October 23, at Independence High School, 38 Decorah High School musicians participated in the Iowa All-State Music auditions. The students prepared difficult musical selections and then competed for spots in the All-State ensembles with students from East Central and Northeast Iowa, including Dubuque and Cedar Rapids schools.

Fifteen Decorah High School students were selected as members of the 2021 ensembles: Ella Grouws, alto; Nolan Jacobsen, bass; Mikiah Krieg, soprano; Ada Lovelace, soprano; Dylan Muhlbauer, tenor; Michael Njus, tenor; Thomas Ostlie, bass; Hope Stahl, alto; Haywood Stowe, tenor; Gareth Sweet, tenor; Elias Vorvick, trombone; Mairi Sessions, tuba alternate; Adrian Huang, violin; Simon Kutz, cello; and Ezra Vorvick, string bass.

Selected for a recall audition were Oliver Brummel, bass; Connor Evelsizer, tenor; Alex Kane, alto; and Gwenyth Thompson, soprano.
